Sound System
We have an excellent in-house PA and will provide a sound-engineer (unless you bring one with you). Front of house we have 24 ceiling mounted LD Curv speakers in a ‘surround-sound’ configuration. There are four subs in the room, so plenty of bass.
Three independent large monitors (and two small optional ones rarely needed). Two vocal monitors on ceiling. Controlled by Behringer X18 digital mixer from iPad/ phone with up to 18 channels (give us L/R if using own mixer). Plenty of mics (SM57/58) and mic stands and XLR cables. DMX lighting. No need to bring own speakers but might want to for keys as a monitor. Can plug in your own IEM if needed.
We don’t provide a back-line. Musicians normally bring their own small amps. Normally we DI out of bass amp and mic up guitar/harmonica amps so we have control in the room and for recording.
Drums – we are very small room, so bring a small kit and a drummer on a tight leash. We normally mic up the kick drum but can mic up snare (if recording, or live-streaming).
We have our own Roland Juno-DS keys and stand you can borrow if you like. Weighted keys and sustain. Old but decent. But safer to bring your own if needed.
Send through your tech-spec in advance, so we know what to expect.
Live Stream and Recording
We have eight HD cameras in the room and show the gig (with sound) in our side room and upstairs. We can livestream concerts to our Facebook page (ideally set up in advance and we will send you the link).
We can record the video with decent sound and video quality in mp4 format so you can use it for promo – no cahrge.
Musicians often release Live from Temperance albums from here – we have about 20 out already. We can record and send you stem files (without effects) via Dropbox. You will need to remix, master and release. No charge for that but let us know in advance.

Food and Drink
We pass on all ticket money to musicians (less 10% for PRS, sound engineer and other costs), so we only provide very basic hospitality – teas, coffees and water. No alcoholic drinks. We don’t provide food but there are places close by that serve pizzas, Indian, Greek, etc.
Do please encourage people to buy drinks in intervals. It’s the only way we can make enough money to keep going.
Merch
We have an oak table outside the venue room which we set aside for musicians and guests we can’t fit in the room. No charge for merch sales. Bring your own card reader but we can take payment through till if needed. We can store empty equipment cases under the table and in fridge area downstairs. No changing room but areas you can change in.
Promotion
We share promotion between musicians and us. Our events are advertised on Eventbrite, our website and Facebook. We have a mailing list of around 6k subscribers, 7k on Eventbrite, 7k on Facebook and 5k on Instagram. Thanks for showing an interest in performing here.
Tag us in any posts promoting the gig and we will share. We normally do a mailshot, if needed, a week or so before a gig. Most gigs sell out.
Local newspapers (The Courier and Observer) are usually supportive in helping promote our gigs and BBC Coventry and Warwickshire is the local radio station.
If you have printed posters, send through a couple of A4 posters and we will display them in the café. We can set you up with ticket reports if needed (less than 3months before a gig).
Payment
Bank transfer only (no cash). After the gig, we will send you the final numbers to you (or agent) and you send us an invoice. Ideally to a UK bank account to avoid charges.
Looking forward to having you play for us here!

If you are interested in performing at Temperance, please contact us by email at perform@temperance.bar. Include your bio (eg describe your music, what venues/festivals you have played, musicians you have performed with/supported, awards won/nominated, quotes and what social media following you have).
Also send links to your music and short video clips. It’s also useful to know availability. Send anything you think might make people want to come and see you perform but try to keep it fairly brief.
If you’ve sent an email and we think you might work well here, we will be in touch. We do get way more artists want to perform here than we can possibly fit in.
We transfer all ticket money to musicians, less 10% for costs, so we need a full house to make it work for us. Preference will be given to quality musicians who offer something a little different, who would suit our ambience/ audience and who are willing to help share the promotion. We look at all applications, but we can’t respond to everyone who wants to play here. Sorry about that.
We cover pretty much every genre but are particularly strong on blues and folk. Everything from solo acoustic through to full ska bands and DJ sets. We prefer musicians to perform originals but do also put on some tribute/ cover bands if they are done well or differently.
