Friends of Temperance

Temperance runs its gigs, exhibitions, workshops and everything else through a non-profit Community Interest Company (called Temperance Live CIC). All the money that comes in (apart from a 10% contribution to costs) goes straight back to the creators – the musicians, comedians, performers and artists that we host. All the organising and admin is done on a voluntary basis.

The mission of the CIC is twofold:
Firstly, we want to provide grassroots and established musicians with a decent payday and a great place to play – a place where excellent sound and an attentive audience are guaranteed. Musicians generally don’t make a lot of money and venues are closing all the time, and we want to do what we can to keep live music viable.
Secondly we want to provide audiences with live music and other events and experiences at an affordable price. This is because we want to bring people together around culture and creativity. Community and togetherness are more important than ever, and we want Temperance to be a place for real-life meeting, creating, discovering and enjoying

If you would like to support us, we have set up a Friends of Temperance group: volunteers who are happy to give us practical assistance of all kinds – from DIY to bookkeeping to musician-hosting to bid writing… or anything else you can think of. You can sign up to the group by mailing Sue HERE.

Or you can make a financial contribution by clicking on the QR code below. This will help us keep our equipment up to date and working, pay external sound engineers and generally keep the show on the road.

All support, of whatever kind, helps us to make sure Temperance remains the special, creative, community hub that we all love.

Thank you!
